Life Story for Larry Hedgepeth Sr.

Staff Sergeant Larry W. Hedgepeth, Sr. (U.S. Army, Ret.), age 66, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 in Madison. Born January 20, 1950 in Madison, he was the son of Robert C. and Lucy (Leatherman) Hedgepeth.

Mr. Hedgepeth was a 1969 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School and was raised in Madison but had lived in Deputy since 1983.

He retired as a staff sergeant with the United States Army. He was a member of the Deputy United Methodist Church, the Deputy Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson Post #9 of the American Legion, VFW Post #1969, the Moose Lodge, and was active with the Madison Regatta, formerly serving as a member of the Miss Madison crew. His passion was helping the volunteer firemen collect for the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Mr. Hedgepeth is survived by one son, Larry W. Hedgepeth, Jr. of Madison; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Roger Goodin of Madison; his former wife, Maria Hedgepeth of Madison; one nephew and one great nephew and great niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Charles F. "Freddie" Hedgepeth in 2009 and Charles Tingle in 2010; and one sister, Dorothy Tingle.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend George Reece at 12:00 Noon Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Main Street Chapel of Lytle Funeral Homes. Immediately following, the Honor Guard from Jefferson Post #9 of the American Legion will conduct services with a final salute.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
